Dr. Dennis LaPoint is a career geologist with more than 45 years of experience in mineral exploration, geological modelling, and project development across North America, South America, Central America, and Europe. His expertise spans uranium, precious metals, and base metals, with extensive experience generating and advancing exploration projects in frontier and geologically complex environments. He has held senior technical, executive, and advisory roles with both public and private mining companies throughout his career.
Dr. LaPoint began his career in uranium exploration with Plateau Resources, where he evaluated uranium prospects across the United States and Canada and contributed to the development of geological models for uranium deposits in the Colorado Plateau. He later led exploration programs internationally and is credited with the discovery of the Merian Gold Mine in Suriname, a world-class deposit containing more than 13 million ounces of gold. Dr. LaPoint holds a Ph.D. in Geology from the University of Colorado, a Master of Science in Geology from the University of Montana, and a Bachelor of Science from the University of Iowa.
